The Voice in My Head — A Different Kind of Legacy
Hi friends,
Greetings from London! Steve and I are here with the kids on a family adventure — siteseeing, getting lost in the markets, and soaking in all the history.
As I’ve walked the streets of London with my kids, I seriously keep hearing a familiar voice in my head — my parents’:
“Alex, cuidado!” (Alex, be careful)
“Grab his hand!”
“No seas tan confiada.” (Don’t be so trusting!)
It’s my parents’ voices, still echoing in my head — usually in Spanish, typically about safety or common sense, and always coming from a place of love.
I’m 41 now, with a law firm and three kids of my own… but somehow, their voices are still guiding me. This is legacy too.
Not just the inheritance we think of in terms of money or property, but the emotional inheritance — the voices, values, and habits we pass on.

La voz en mi cabeza: un legado diferente

¡Saludos desde Londres! Steve y yo estamos aquí con los niños en una aventura familiar: haciendo turismo, perdiéndonos en los mercados y empapándonos de la historia.
Mientras recorro las calles de Londres con mis hijos, sigo oyendo una voz familiar en mi cabeza: la de mis padres:
“¡Alex, cuidado!”
“¡Cógele la mano!”
“¡No seas tan confiada!”
Son las voces de mis padres, que aún resuenan en mi cabeza, generalmente en español, generalmente sobre seguridad o sentido común, y siempre con amor.
Tengo 41 años, tengo un bufete de abogados y tres hijos… pero, de alguna manera, sus voces siguen guiándome. Esto también es un legado.
No solo la herencia que entendemos en términos de dinero o propiedades, sino la herencia emocional: las voces, los valores y los hábitos que transmitimos.
